Michal Menert and Gramatik and introducing Paul Basic and SuperVison Doors at Nine, tickets $10 in advance and $12 at the door Michal Menert was born in Kielce, Poland while the country was under communist rule. As a young child, he and his parents fled to the United States by way of West Germany, becoming political refugees. During his childhood, Michal's father exposed him to a wide variety of Eastern and Western music, giving the boy fertile soil in which to plant his musical visions early on. Coming from a musical background of playing guitar, keyboards, and dabbling in a variety of other instruments gave Michal a unique approach to composing his own musical style. He grew up in Colorado with Derek Vincent Smith of Pretty Lights and together they played in several bands and challenged and inspired each other as they developed their own unique production styles. He co-produced the debut Pretty Lights album, "Taking Up Your Precious Time" and has collaborated with Derek Vincent Smith on a handful of tracks since then. His solo album, entitled "Dreaming of A Bigger Life" was released on Pretty Lights Music in the Spring of 2010. His sound combines obscure vintage samples from both Eastern European and Western vinyl with rich analog synthesis and organic hard hitting beats. It is a fusion of yesterday's elements and tomorrow's ideas. Good music is felt, not heard. Apparently Gramatik understood that at the age of 3, when his mother would catch him glued to the radio in his older sister's room. Not unlike other great European artists of the past, the Slovenian producer was heavily influenced by American music early on, taking in everything from Funk and Jazz to Soul and Blues. Gramatik's Beatz & Pieces Vol. 1 (out July 12 on Pretty Lights Music) is his first release on Pretty Lights Music and builds on the amazing momentum created from his last release No Shortcuts and the Street Bangerz mix-tape series. Gramatik explains, "The Beatz & Pieces series comes as a successor to the popular Street Bangerz series which was my first work as a producer. I never really considered these volumes to be albums. I always looked at them as hip-hop beats on steroids. They are still raw, sample based beats, but with evolved arrangements and wrapped in a fine layer of live instrumentation. And the reason I started adding live instruments is because I felt that classic hip-hop beats without vocals lose me after two minutes. I want to keep the listener through the whole track!" With over 80,000 tracks sold on the influential electronic music site Beatport.com in the past 2 years, topping all kinds of genre charts, Gramatik has matured from a curious kid attracted by soundscapes, to a world-class producer. Gramatik's music quickly gained steam after he first began posting it online in 2008 and earned him nominations for ''Best Chill Out Artist'' and ''Best Chill Out Track'' at the 2010 Beatport Music Awards, taking 2nd place in both categories. After posting a recent remix of Led Zeppelin's "Stariway to Heaven" he shot to number 1 on the HypeMachine chart without so much as even a post on his Facebook. Gramatik is now known in electronic and hip-hop circles around the globe, touring with the likes of Pretty Lights, The Glitch Mob, Mimosa, Two Fresh and many others. Over the last several years, Colorado producer Paul Basic (Paul Brandt) has developed his own brand of beats fusing dusty samples with hard hitting drums and razor-sharp basslines. His roots are in drumming, having played in a band with label-mates Michal Menert and Derek Vincent Smith through highschool before moving on to produce his own tracks. He draws from a slew of inspirations in order to create his own style within the PLM electro hip-hop movement. A Colorado native, Paul lived on both coasts while pursuing a degree in audio production, before he came back to CO to team up with his crew and begin his quest for domination of the global dance floor. Now available for free download is Paul Basic's debut on the PLM label with his EP 'The Mirror'. When drawing from the right pool of inspiration, sometimes the right mixture of sounds can come together and make something new. Possibly something hard to put one name on. Today people like to jump on the next genre bandwagon, and intentionally make music that fits one genre. SuperVision is not about one sound. Instead it is about many sounds brought together with an approach that delivers a stylistic sound design that isn't classified with one or two words. It is a sound that you can count on evolving without departing from what makes it unique. The sounds created and played by SuperVision are the works of Richard Blake Hansen. With a DJ career spanning over 12 years and 1000+ gigs, his place in the music industry has been found. Within a couple of years of DJing he was cutting his teeth in music production. He moved to Fort Collins Colorado in 2002 and met Derek Vincent Smith and Michal Menert. After studying production and learning from the best, he went on to audio engineering school. He has enjoyed sharing the stage with such well known acts as Pretty Lights, Michal Menert, DJ AM, Jazzy Jeff, Public Enemy, DJ Craze, Klever, DJ Skribble, Steve Aoki, Tommie Sunshine, Quest Love, Classixx, La Riots, Villains, RJD2, and Ghostland Observatory to name a few. In 2011 SuperVision has arrived. Available now for free download is his latest project 'Telescopic'.
