Description

Since age 19, Robert Alewine has been in love with making pottery. He began working apprenticeships in Murfressboro and Lookout Mountain, Tennessee to eventually learn to art of ceramics. In 1983, Alewine Pottery opened in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on highway 321 in the Wood Whitlers complex. The shop later moved to its current location on Glades Road in the heart of the Arts and Crafts Community. Over the years, Robert has seen his style range from raw, earth-tones to bright, brilliant colors that dazzle audiences. The shop has grown from Robert working by himself to a high scale operation including several employees, three full time potters, and a full time local television channel. Robert’s commitment to being a craftsman, however, has never changed, and visitors can see his devotion in every piece.
