The 2011 almond harvest is underway, and Stewart & Jasper expects it to be another record-breaker, the biggest in industry history. Quality should be excellent, perfect for both our trade and retail customers.
The USDA Objective forecast of 1.95 billion meat pounds is 19% higher than last year’s record crop - based on 750,000 bearing acres in California and an estimated 2600 pounds per acre. A cool spring and short summer with mild temperatures has created a late harvest schedule. With reasonably dry conditions, we expect harvest to wrap up in late October or beginning November.
