We are able to price this trip this way because: A) The JOC has no marketing expenses - all publicity is word of mouth. B) The JOC does not operate to make a profit. C) Lodging reservations and other arrangements were literally made six months in advance. WHERE ARE WE GOING? We are going to the heart of Colorado Skiing, with Vail and Beaver Creek all within a few miles of us. For those who don't know, Vail is considered by most to be the best skiing resort in the country, with incredible conditions and terrain, including the world famous "back-bowls of Vail". We aim to please :) WHAT IS THE COST BREAKDOWN? Early Bird: $1299. This is actually BELOW COST - we promise. Included 7 nights lodging (2 per room), three catered meals a day, 4 day lift ticket If you wish to have a room to yourself (one King Bed): $2199 After December 31: $1499 (Slightly above cost to make up for below cost early bird) Included 7 nights lodging (2 per room), three catered meals a day, 4 day lift ticket If you wish to have a room to yourself (one King Bed): $2199 WHAT IS THE LODGE LIKE? The Vail Holiday Inn has a website http://www.apexvail.com/ In brief, it is a nice place with lots of amenities and space. It is a considerable step up from the typical JOC event accommodation. Please follow the links and see for yourself. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING? This is the third trip out West that the JOC has done. The last two trips each had a little over 30 participants. We are expecting the numbers to be similar, perhaps more. It is always a fun, friendly crowd! WHAT IS THE FOOD GOING TO BE LIKE? All food is fully catered from the Chabad caterers in Vail, with service included. Sample breakfast: cereal, hot cereal, danishes, fruit. Lunch: Wraps and Salads Sample Dinner: Fish, rice, salad, mixed vegetables, dessert. HOW WILL WE GET AROUND? There is a free shuttle that takes you to Vail and downtown. There are no stops except the ski resorts, and no transfers are needed. There is also a local shuttle for local travel that stops right in front of the Holiday Inn. IS FLIGHT INCLUDED? No, however, if many people would like to schedule their flights early; currently, flights are an amazing $215 on www.kayak.com. Transportation to and from the airport is additional and information about the shuttle to and from the Denver airport will be provided. There is also an option to fly straight to Eagle County Airport, just a few minutes from Vail. WHAT IF I NEED SKI/SNOWBOARD RENTAL or/and LESSONS? You can rent locally or at the mountain and there is a discounted price for guests of the Holiday Inn. Details on rentals and lessons will be provided to participants. WHAT IF I WANT TO DO ANOTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITY? Local options include snowmobiling, heliskiing, ice skating, ice climbing, and more. You are on your own to organize such trips. Some night activities will be arranged. WHAT IS THE RELIGIOUS LEVEL OF THE TRIP? This trip is being organized as a Kosher, Shomer Shabbat trip, but people are welcome to come from across the religious spectrum, as the respect that you have for the observance of attendees both to the right and left of you is more important than how you label yourself. On Shabbos, we are within walking distance to the Chabad shul and we'll be davening there. SOUNDS AMAZING, BUT I'M NOT SURE I HAVE THE VACATION DAYS! This year, Pesach falls out on Shabbat-Sunday. There's no excuse! J OK- I'M IN! HOW DO I SIGN UP? Please sign up at the eventbrite link. http://jocvail2012.eventbrite.com A $250 check reserves your spot. In order to avoid paypal fees which would raise the cost of the event, we can accept check only. WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY? You may cancel until January, 15, 2012 without any penalty whatsoever. After that, your deposit is forfeited. Cancellations within one week of the trip will result in a 50% forfeiture, unless you or we can find someone to replace you. WILL IT FILL UP? Those who know about these things know that this is a pretty good deal, as well as a fun time with the JOC, and I anticipate that this trip will fill up. My advice is to book early to guarantee your spot. After the spots get filled, I will create a wait list. ANYTHING ELSE? If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at this address.
