Sam Holt Band is Sam Holt on guitar and vocals, Spanky McCluer on bass and vocals, Adam Stern on electric and pedal steel guitar, and Andy Clapp on drums. Sam Holt born in Nashville, TN spent his youth in and around Middle Tennessee, where he grew to love of all types of music. The first music he remembers is The Charlie Daniels Band and Elvis Presley. Soon after, his mom brought him home KISS Alive II and he knew music would be a major part of his life. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in recording engineering Sam got a call from the production manager of Widespread Panic. "They were in the middle of a tour and their long time guitar tech had to go home. They asked me if I could be on a plane tomorrow and I said sure", Holt recounts. Widespread Panic lead guitarist Michael Houser was impressed with Sam's skills and told Sam he should start his own band. When Houser passed away in August of 2002 after a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer, Sam stayed on as guitar tech to help Widespread Panic through a very trying time. In the summer of 2006 Widespread Panic found themselves without a lead guitar player and the band asked Sam to take over until Jimmy Herring had fulfilled his commitment with the Aquarium Rescue Unit band. A very awkward situation became extremely positive with the first note Sam played on stage with Panic. With all these experiences behind him Sam remembered the words of Michael Houser and took his own band, Outformation, full time. Having secured a distribution deal with Redeye USA, Outformation recorded 3 albums of original music and toured nationally for five years. Holt even included a cover of a Michael Houser's "Can't Change The Past" on Outformation's first album. In 2010 the members of Outformation decided to go their separate ways. Sam moved to Colorado and quickly became a part of the vibrant music scene and formed the Denver based Sam Holt Band. They have gathered a loyal following playing throughout The Rocky Mountains. Along the way Sam always kept writing and recording poignant rock songs. His southern roots can always be heard in his heartfelt expressions of life experience.
