Monterey to Host Cherry's Jubilee 2011 Motorsports Festival
Cherry’s Jubilee 2011 Motorsports Festival
September 9-11, 2011
Salinas and Monterey
Thank God for car buffs. They not only want to show off their own gleaming “babies” but they also admire the prize possessions of others who share their passion. They know how much work went into the careful preservation or restoration of each and every classic car and hot rod out there.
Cherry’s Jubilee has many diverse activities for car participants was well as spectators. This event kicks off on Wednesday, September 7th at Salinas Oldtown Passport to Cherry's. Spectators can come and view cherry cars and trucks. Friday night there will be a cruise in downtown Monterey and the wharf waterfront. Spectators are free.
Wednesday: Passport to Cherry’s
Get your motors runnin’. Once again, Oldtown Salinas welcomes Cherry's Jubilee participants & car enthusiasts and everyone who enjoys a hometown party to the Oldtown Passport to Cherry's and Show 'n' Shine. Thursday: Otis Auto Nostalgic Nights Cruise In Party
Otis Auto Sales welcomes all to the 10th annual Nostalgic Nights Show & Shine Official VIP kick off party for Cherry’s Jubilee. This party will be held on Thursday September 8th from 9am until 9pm on the corner of Figueroa and Del Monte Avenue, adjacent to the Official Registration. There will be plenty of food and vendors, including a DJ spinning those Oldies but Goodies that will have you singing and dancing in the street (parking lot). Don’t forget the HUGE raffle with all proceeds donated directly to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Trophies will be given in 12 categories including best of show. Get your cars waxed, shined, and ready to show.
Friday Cruise: Old Monterey & Fisherman’s Wharf
The Friday night cruise provides a great opportunity to “Shine”. The cruise will be held in Old Monterey and Fisherman’s Wharf from 5:30p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday September 9th.
When you are in the Waterfront parking lot at Fisherman’s Wharf, take time to check out the beautiful views of Monterey Bay, and drive slowly by the Sponsor’s tent so that everyone can admire your car. Proceed through the gate and head south on Figueroa Street and right on Pearl Street and you have completed the cruise lap. You may make as many laps as you wish.
Saturday morning: Poker Run
We hope you will enjoy the route we've chosen. Our goal is to show you some of the best scenic driving Monterey County has to offer. Some of it is so inspiring, we ask that you please drive carefully. Several businesses have kindly agreed to participate in our poker run. Please enjoy their gifts and services and if time allows and please be sure to thank them for participating in our event. Awards: $500 for high hand, $300 for 2nd place, $200 for 3rd place.
Sunday morning Pancake Breakfast at Laguna Seca
One of the favorite things about Cherry’s Jubilee is the Pancake Breakfast at Laguna Seca. Neither rain nor puddles can stop those cakes from tossing. Pancakes are tossed from a flatbed truck to the waiting hungry below. Eat as many as you can catch or serve yourself buffet style.
Whether it is the coastal views, the pure beauty of the hot rods, and classic cars, Cherry's Jubilee 2011 will provide a "Jaw-Dropping" good time. Dubbed the biggest “oldies” party of the year, the 20th annual Cherry’s Jubilee is a family motorsport festival that takes place in many areas of the Monterey Peninsula. Cherry’s Jubilee is presented by the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation to benefit Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
