"The World's Most Beautiful Marathon"™ Held in the Mad River Valley, Vermont
The First Annual Mad Marathon and Mad Half are scheduled for July 10, 2011 in the gorgeous Mad River Valley in Central Vermont.
The course runs through this extraordinary rural community on back and dirt roads, with breathtaking views of the Green Mountains, rolling farm lands, quaint villages, historical barns, covered bridges and fields of our famous Vermont cows!
Vermont is well-known for its brilliant fall foliage. The Mad River Valley is also the winter home of Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski areas, and the summer offers a host sport opportunities in golf, biking, kayaking, canoeing, fly fishing and of course, running in a pristine natural setting.
Summers are cool and breezy with average highs in the mid-seventies to mid-eighties. Life in Vermont in the summer months is low, relaxing with a healthy lifestyle that supports a family community with a passion for sport.
Vermont is also celebrated for its Country Inn's and B&B's and the Mad River Valley is known for the absence of any traffic lights, fast food restaurants or chain hotels. Along with our Inns and B&B's, the choice of accommodations for the Mad Marathon will also include private homes or town houses and a variety of gourmet restaurants serving local and regional cuisine.
